The movie "Precious"

It Is What It Is!!!

Hi, I saw the movie and thought it was great.  One of Tyler's best.  It was really touching, emotional, uplifiting and spiritual and yes, funny too.  The music was awesome.  BUT I should let you konw that there is no soundtrack to the movie nor will there be one.  Tyler said so in an interview last week on the Tom Joyner Show.  It turns out, it is too expensive because each record label wants to be PAID for the sounds on the soundtrack, etc.  However, have no fear, you can still find ALL the songs from the movie if you search for each artists' cd yourself.  For instance, the song Marvin Winans sang "You didn't want to know" is on a CD he did 2 years ago.  Or you can find it on Youtube if you just want to hear it again...  Good luck.

That preview was heart wrenching.  I have the book, still to be read.  I will definitly read it before seeing the movie.

I know, it is sad and so powerfully acted by the cast.  Mo'nique is amazing in this.  Gut wrenchingly good.

Wow that just brings tears to my eyes. I will watch this movie to honor all of the people that have been in this abusive type of relationship.

Now see there, you just gave me a reason to go see it, with a big ol' box of Kleenex!   LOL.  But you're right.  Besides, if we don't go to the movies, it doesn't get counted in the box office and no Oscars.....

Prior to seeing "I can do bad all by myself" and the "precious" trailer that followed, I had heard a week prior that they were talking about Mo'nique was certain to be nominated for an Oscar.  I had no clue that she had a dramatical role about to be released, but after seeing that trailer, that just made me want to ball, I saw that they were so right.   There should be several Oscar nods for several actors in that movie, hopefully it won't be another "Color Purple".  Also, Taraji did her thang in ICDBABM!!  She should also deserves an Oscar nod as well.

I will have to take two boxes of kleenex to watch "Precious" though.

I read the book a few years ago and I've been waiting on the movie for a year now, they kept pushing the release date back.  I too have heard that Mo'Nique plays the hell out of the part.  I love it when actors bring characters from a book to life.  I just hope it doesn't stray too far from the book like most movies do.

After seeing the trailer for the movie I immediately went to the book store to get the book, its a short one day read and you talk about emotional the book was good but emotional. Although sad it has a postive message.
The trailer looks like they did a good job with the movie I hope they did the novel justice.  Looks like the cast did an amazing job. I can't wait until it's released.

I'm with you there.  The trailer itself was mad emotional.  I was thinking the same thing.  I'm not sure I can sit through this movie!!!  But I am going to think long and hard about it.  I also believe that this movie will bring out a lot of emotions in a lot of previously overweight teens because of what we have been through in the past.  Whew, I'll bring my box of tissues should I decide to go see it...

Hey Lady!

Our book club read the book earlier this year and we are planning on going to see it.  It was a sad story but I could not put the book down I read it in about 2.5 hours.
